Frequently Asked Questions
Unsure about the retreat details? Looking for a better idea of what to expect when you join us for a yoga retreat? Don't worry, you're not alone!
We've pulled together some FAQ's to provide you with the answers to some of your questions! And if you're still not sure about something, just shoot us an email at
Q: Do I need to already have an advanced yoga practice in order to join a retreat?
A: No, all levels of yoginis are welcome! Whether you're just starting your practice, or you've been practicing for years, our teachers will modify each class especially for you and your practice.
Q: What if I've never taken a yoga class before?
A: That's ok too! However, before you invest in an immersive yoga experience in another country, it might be helpful to try a yoga class or two at home. It'll give you a better idea of what to expect, and what kinds of yoga you enjoy!
Q: Are yoga mats provided? What yoga gear should I bring?
A: Our studio is equipped with top-of-the-line Manduka yoga gear. We proudly offer each of our guests the use of an Eko Manduka yoga mat, cork blocks, straps, and bolsters. If you prefer to travel with your own mat, that's fine too! Just make sure you have some comfortable yoga clothes to practice in.
Q: What is the weather like in Chile? How should I pack?
A: The weather in southern Chile is 100% unpredictable. You may see heavy rain, clouds, hail, hot sun, and wind... all in one day! We recommend being prepared for anything. A rain jacket and some sunscreen are a must, as well as some layers that can be put on or taken off throughout the day as the temperature changes. Even on hot summer days, the evenings tend to be cool! Wool and synthetic layers that dry fast are our personal favorites. And make sure to bring a bathing suit if you'd like to take advantage of the outdoor hot tubs!
Q: I'm confused about the lodging options. What if I don't want to share a room with someone else? What if I do want to share a room?
A: Our retreat lodging is located a 5-minute drive from our yoga studio. There are two large, rustic-style houses, as well as the fairytale cabin. Each of the houses has its own terrace with volcano views, as well as an outdoor hot tub. We love the two large houses, because they provide various lodging options, and at the same time they foster a sense of community within the group. Eat meals together at the large kitchen table, hang out in the common areas, or go for a walk by the stream. The large houses either offer shared rooms with two twin beds (we'll never put more than two people in a room), and a shared bathroom. The bathroom is shared between four. This is a great option if you're coming with a friend, or if you're trying to stick to a budget! Or choose the private double room with an attached private bathroom. If you'd prefer to have more privacy, our fairytale cabin is set back out of sight from the two main houses, and has its own kitchen, living room, bathroom, and twin bed. It's a great option if you're looking for a more private getaway!
Q: Ensenada, Chile seems pretty rural. Will I find enough to do?
A: We've done a lot of traveling, but Ensenada is still our favorite. We know we're a bit biased, but we think you'll fall in love with this place just as we have. Imagine a view that includes 3 volcanes, the largest lake in Chile, and a stunning crystalline river. It's unbeatable! However, while Ensenada boasts some of the best outdoor adventures around, it is rural. Restaurants, shopping, etc. is limited. Plus, we'll keep you pretty busy with our packed retreat itinerary!
If you're looking for a bit of civilization, or a nice dinner out, we recommend Puerto Varas. Puerto Varas is just a 35-minute drive from Ensenada, and the small, touristic city has pretty much every amenity you can think of. Actually, if you have a few days to spare before or after your retreat, we highly recommend staying in Puerto Varas for a night or two! And we're happy to help you find accommodation or things to do there.
Q: What's the best way to arrive to Ensenada, Chile?
A: If you're coming by plane, book your flight to Santiago International Airport. From there, you can book a cheap national flight from Santiago to Puerto Montt. If your retreat includes it, we'll pick you up at the Puerto Montt airport. Otherwise, it's an easy bus ride to where we're located.
If you're already in Chile or doing some traveling beforehand, you can arrive to Puerto Montt, Puerto Varas, or Ensenada easily by bus. And if you need any advice or help just let us know!
Q: What is the cancellation policy like?
A: When you make your booking, you have the option to pay a deposit (deposit amount varies based on retreat), or pay in full. If you cancel your retreat any time 30 days prior to the start date, we will refund you any payments made beyond the initial deposit. However, we will not refund your initial deposit. You may choose to forfeit the deposit, or you may use for a future yoga retreat with us.
If you cancel within 30 days of the retreat start date, unfortunately you will lose your deposit, and it will not be valid for any future retreats.
Q: Is there a minimum and maximum number for reatreats?
A: Yes. Our minimum number is 6. If we haven't reached our minimum for whatever reason, we may have to cancel the retreat. In that case, we will do our best to let you know as far in advance as possible, and we will give you a full refund.
